CAREER HISTORY

Dr James Pang completed his PhD at the University of Sydney in 2019. Then, he joined the institute as a postdoctoral fellow to work in the fields of connectomics, neuroimaging, and brain modelling. His research combines tools and techniques from physics, neuroscience, mathematics, and computer science to analyse brain structure and the mechanisms of brain dynamics and function. He is also a Chief Investigator on a $1.3M 2020-2023 NHMRC Ideas grant to understand the neurovascular underpinnings leading to poor health outcomes in preterm infants.

CURRENT AREA OF RESEARCH

Dr Pang’s current area of research is on computational neuroscience, neuroimaging, and neurovascular research, with focus on brain modelling and developing cutting-edge neuroimaging tools. He employs a multi-disciplinary approach that combines biophysical models and electrophysiological and imaging data to better understand the mechanisms of brain function in both healthy and diseased cohorts.
