CAREER HISTORY

In 2022, Daniel took a Senior Research Officer position within the Health Economics stream at QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute, with an interest in the health economics of cancer. Dr Lindsay holds a Bachelor of Psychology (Hons) and PhD in Psychology. Daniel has extensive and broad research experience and expertise in statistics and applied economic research, having published over 60 peer-reviewed journal articles. Dr Lindsay also has experience working with large, administratively linked datasets and exploring the financial costs of cancer for various populations, including First Nations Australians. Dr Lindsay is a member of the Australian Health Economics Society and Australian Epidemiological Association. As a health economist, Daniel is hoping to collaborate with multi-disciplinary research teams to translate health economic findings into policy and practice.

CURRENT AREA OF RESEARCH

Daniel’s area of research is focused on evaluating the cost-effectiveness of health interventions for cancer populations and the financial burdens of cancer survivors. His current work focuses on melanoma screening and examining inequity in service use and costs for cancer populations. Daniel has a focus on using health economic and statistical techniques to examine health inequities in disadvantaged populations, financial toxicity and out-of-pocket expenses following a cancer diagnosis. Daniel has an interest in all stages of the cancer care continuum, ranging from prevention, early detection, treatment and survivorship.

 

RESEARCH HIGHLIGHTS

  • Over 60 peer-reviewed publications and 3 invited plenary talks at national conferences
  • Currently working on a Synergy Grant examining a targeted melanoma screening approach
  • Involved in grants worth over $2m
