Global Health & Tropical Medicine

Professor Darren Gray

Program Director, Population Health

Our research investigates the transmission and control of tropical infectious diseases and diseases of poverty, including some of the most prevalent and important infections that cause much suffering and economic loss worldwide. We aim to develop new public health interventions against these diseases that will lead to their sustainable control and eventual elimination.

  • Magic Glasses Research Program for the control and elimination of intestinal worms
  • BALatrine: A latrine intervention in resource poor settings for the control of enteric infections
  • HELM Study: Helminth Elimination from the Lower Mekong
  • Elimination of schistosomiasis from the Philippines
  • Geospatial applications for the control of Tropical Infectious Diseases in the Asia-Pacific Region
  • Impact of nutritional deficiencies on incidence and treatment outcomes of TB/MDR-TB
  • Predicting malaria transmissibility in a near elimination setting and identifying key drivers for malaria elimination
  • Prevalence, burden, determinants and spatial distribution of Strongyloides stercoralis and Ancylostoma ceylanicum in schoolchildren in Laguna, province, the Philippines
  • Spatial predictions of soil transmitted helminth prevalence in the Western Pacific and South-East Asia region
  • Analysis of the Infectious Disease (Diarrhoea, Dengue, and Measles) Dynamics during the COVID-19 Pandemic in Indonesia
  • Integrated Surveillance of Neglected Tropical Diseases and Vaccine-Preventable Diseases.
  • Spatial risk prediction of soil-transmitted helminths and schistosomiasis and their relationships to the environmental and climatic factors in the Philippines
