Quota International Beenleigh gives to better health

Quota International Beenleigh will be making a donation of $1,000 to the Queensland Institute of Medical Research (QIMR) on Friday 16 April.

According to QIMR Fundraising Manager Theresa Scanlan, this is a great boost for medical research.

“We are thankful for the regular donations from Quota, who have generously supported QIMR for over the last seven years, with donations totalling $14,000,” said Theresa.

“QIMR’s research would not be possible without the generosity of the community and groups like Quota International Incorporated.

“Funding for research is highly competitive. Our researchers are very successful at securing funding from the government and other funding bodies. However, these grants do not cover the full cost of research projects. For every dollar we receive from grants, we need another 65 cents to make the research happen.”

Quota International Beenleigh President Heather Christensen said, “Quota International is dedicated to raising funds for many worthy causes including libraries, senior citizens groups, hospitals, and local Fire and Rescue services.”

“Our club has been a long term supporter of QIMR. There are so many worthy causes, but what can be more valuable than supporting medical research and a future without disease?”

“QIMR conducts research into such a large range of diseases from cancer and HIV to malaria and mental health, so we know our support is really making a difference to the lives of many people all over the world.”

Quota International Beenleigh will present the cheque to QIMR at their 37th Annual Changeover Dinner which begins at 6:30 pm at the Beenleigh Bowls Club.
