Did you know there is cutting-edge medical research happening right on your doorstep?
Based at Herston, the Queensland Institute of Medical Research (QIMR) is one of Australia’s largest and most successful medical research institutes and undertakes research on cancers; infectious diseases including malaria and dengue fever; and mental illness.
QIMR’s Joan Stockman said the upcoming roadshow is a great opportunity to come and hear about the research being carried out at QIMR.
“The roadshow is our way of sharing with the public how QIMR’s researchers are working to better understand the causes of disease and develop improved prevention and treatment options,” Mrs Stockman said.
“We are lucky enough to have some of the world leaders of medical research right here in Brisbane.
“From discovering new cancer fighting compounds from plants, to utilising the body’s immune system to better fight disease – you will be amazed about the ground-breaking work happening in your own backyard.
“Places are limited and morning tea is provided, so we encourage you to RSVP to secure your place.”
