Congratulations to our Chairman, Sir Bruce Watson, for receiving the Companion (AC) in the General Division in the Australia Day Honours list for leadership in a range of fields covering industry and commerce, the arts, and education and for developing medical research facilities of international standard in Australia.
Also a Senior Australian of the Year for Qld finalist in 2004, Sir Bruce is a champion for Australian medical research. For years he has been involved at various capacities with the Queensland Institute of Medical Research and two Cooperative Research Centres. With a corporate background, Sir Bruce contributes his wisdom and experience to the medical research industry. In 1985 he was awarded a Knight Bachelor for his service to the mining industry, particularly Mt Isa Mines. Sir Bruce was born in Queensland in 1928 and at a stage of life when some are reducing their community involvement, Sir Bruce continues to provide leadership and advice to many people and organisations.
