Depression is a common mental health problem, affecting one in five people at some stage of their lives. Family studies suggest there is an important genetic contribution to depression.
QIMR Berghofer is part of a collaborative international effort to research the genetics of depression.
About this study
This research project’s purpose is to identify specific genetic risk factors associated with risk of depression, as well as factors associated with response to treatment. We hope that this research will help us learn more about depression and the factors influencing why various treatments are successful for some people and not others. Understanding the genetic factors of depression will result in better prevention, better treatment and better outcomes. For more information about the study please visit our Frequently Asked Questions.
We are seeking people 18 years of age and over who have been treated for depression to participate in the study.
