QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute is saddened by the news of the recent passing of Dr Peter Roeser.
Dr Roeser had a long and distinguished association with QIMR Berghofer. He was Chairperson of the Clinical Trials Protocol Committee (CTPC) subcommittee of the QIMR Berghofer Human Research and Ethics Committee (HREC ) from 2004. It is a measure of the esteem in which he was held that, as far back as 2009, he was made a Fellow of the Institute. This is the highest honour that QIMR Berghofer awards.
Dr Roeser’s speciality was in haematology and oncology, and throughout his clinical career he also contributed to many committees and research activities, authoring nearly 40 papers over a 30-year period to 1999.
Many QIMR Berghofer clinical trial researchers benefited from Dr Roeser’s expertise and the time he volunteered to the Institute over the last 13 years. His expertise and supportive attitude provided great leadership to CTPC members over his tenure, and he will very much be missed.
QIMR Berghofer extends its condolences to Dr Roeser’s family.
