Nausea and vomiting during pregnancy (NVP), commonly known as morning sickness, is an important health outcome in terms of its high frequency, clinical and psychosocial consequences, pregnancy outcomes and financial burden.
Our research group is conducting a study that aims to investigate the psychosocial consequences of severe NVP. Participants report extensive information on NVP severity, duration and impact of NVP for each pregnancy via an online survey. The information includes quantitative measures of the physical, psychological and social impacts of NVP for participants.
NVP is a risk factor for postnatal depression. Using data from this study, this project will examine the association between NVP and depression prior, during and after to pregnancy.
The project will require a strong background in statistics and research methodology. Applicants with backgrounds in Psychology, Psychiatry, Statistics or Public Health are preferred.
